A Future MT

Hello, my name is Kara Hammack. I am a twenty-six year old married woman and I live in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. I graduated in 2002 from St. Mary’s-Colgan High School in Pittsburg, Kansas. I have attended college at Fort Scott Community College and Labette Community College, both of which are in Kansas. Then for the last year I have attended Eastern Oklahoma State College, where I wanted to attend their nursing program. I was unable to do it due to the fact that a year ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) in my shoulders and I had a lot of difficulty lifting over twenty pounds with my arms. I have always wanted to be in the medical profession since I was a small child. In my family we have sort of started a tradition without really realizing it. The tradition is that we are either teachers or in the medical field in some way. One of my aunts is a physical therapist and her best friend is a medical transcriptionist and she has informed me a lot about this career path and I believe that it is the right path for me. I believe some of the advantages of working in the medical transcriptionist industry include: the flexibility for me to work at home which gives me the ability to spend more time with my family. I like the idea of the flexibility because my husband’s job takes him out of town for at least two weeks at a time and we have a small farm that I am in charge of. I think that medical transciption at home would be convenient for me so that way I could still take care of the farm and have an office in my home to work out of. This is especially convenient because if an animal gets sick or hurt I am right here to deal with the problem. If I was working in an office I wouldn’t be around to do checks and if I had to work late I would have to change feeding times at the farm. Whereas if I am at home, I can feed by 3 o’clock and can do checks throughout the day. The other advantage is to spend time with my family and this is the most important thing to me. It would be helpful to work at home due to my father-in-law being sick.  If he needed me I could take my computer up to the nursing home and still continue my work while dealing with whatever problems have arose with him. Also my husband and I are trying to start a family of our own and I would love to be able to be here for my children. I also have a niece who is in school and her mother works full time and has no one to pick her up; so I pick her up after school. I think I would like to study with Future MT because after looking at the website and everything it seems to be the most efficient site I have found. Your website has answered all my questions concerning the medical transcription courses and has offered me many options to further my education. I also believe that with my knowledge of nursing that it will help me in the field of medical transcription. Some of my educational goals are by one year I would like to have completed my MT education. In two years I would like to have found a job working as an MT from my home. Then by the year 2015, I would like to be an experienced transcriptionist and be working for at least two or three doctors. In about ten to fifteen years I would like to have my own MT business with a few people working under me. Hopefully I have included everything there is to know about me in this essay. I also hope to be hearing from you soon and hopefully I am what you consider a future MT. Thank you for your time and for reading my essay. Have a nice day and hope to hear from you soon.
