A New Chapter In My Life

I would like to become a medical transcriptionist because I think it will bring multiple opportunities to my life, not just professionally but personally as well. I worked in a retail store for almost 14 years and had to work long hours, swing shifts and almost every holiday. I am ready to have a job that I can have flexible hours and am able to spend more time with my family. I think I would enjoy it because my mom has worked in the medical billing field for almost forty years and has always enjoyed it. She says it is something that is always changing. She loves doing the transcription. My sister-in-law is also a medical transcriptionist and seems to really enjoy it. I am just ready to actually enjoy something that I do and honestly I have worked with the public for so many years that I am looking forward to having an office in my own home, with my own computer and working for myself. I think I would be good at this because I have always been a dedicated employee and I always have held a high standard for my work ethic and am always very cautious of my work to make sure that I am doing it correctly. I am one of those people who hate mistakes and I like to have a good reputation of being an asset to my employer. I hope that medical transcription at home is a profession that will give me the opportunity to make more money. I have some debt that I would like to be able to pay off and still be able have some money in the bank. It seems like right now, I am just living paycheck to paycheck. I want to be able to be financially independent and not to have to worry about debt. Also, my husband and I got married about a year ago and we are wanting to have a baby. Being able to work from home would be a great way to have an income and still be able to be at home for my child. I could work during the day at the medical transcription and then my evenings and weekends would be free for my family. I know most of my reasons for wanting to become a medical transcriptionist are personal, but I also feel that it would be a career that I would always be able to find work. The medical field is one that I think would always be growing and hopefully would always have jobs available, even if I had to work outside of my home. I am basically just ready for a change and I hope following through with the training for this course will prove to be beneficial for me and my family. I hope I have been able to show that I am dedicated and very excited to start my training for this course in medical transcription and look forward to start a new chapter in my life. Thank you in advance for considering me for your scholarship program. Sincerely, Amy S. Byrd Marion, Virginia
