A Rewarding Job
I want to be a medical transcriptionist for many reasons. First of all, there are a lot of job crises, not only here in Pakistan, but also all over the world. Secondly, low salary rates. I want to do some specific work from home typing that is valuable and acceptable all around the world. Thirdly, I want to increase my skills. Maybe after some time, medical transcription technology will be introduced here in Pakistan. In Karachi where I live, there are approximately 1000 MTs or maybe more doing MT jobs. Karachi is a cosmopolitan city where approximately 20 million people live. You can imagine the shortage of MTs here in Karachi and also in Pakistan. All these factors attract me to do something in the medical transcription field and to get a rewarding job. If you compare India to Pakistan, India is earning around 2 billion dollars while Pakistan is only earning .5 million dollar as far as I know. As you know, life is going fast and it’s busy day by day. If you want to pass your life in this hard day with high inflation in market rates, you will have to work more and more to generate more income. Due to this you need more time. If you spend time in much more you will have to compromise your time which is available only for family. If I become an MT, I may be able to do my job at my home place which would save traveling time so that I can spend much more time with my family. It will also be a great opportunity for me to set my own working hours keeping in view of my personal commitments. One of the best advantages of this field is that after some time I can start my own business, as this is not a very saturated business here in Pakistan. If you have a good knowledge and experience and a teaching background, you can also open your own institute or college to educate other people about this growing technology. Here in Pakistan, I have not found an institute that provides any good training in medical transcription. No institute, college, or university is providing any special courses in medical transcription, even though it is one of the growing industries all over the world as I realized through a few articles which i found on the Internet. As far as my education and career goals are concerned, I feel that if I get an education in MT, my future can be saved and I can get better job opportunities. As long as my knowledge and experience is increased, my wages and opportunities will automatically increase. Here in Pakistan, I can earn in US$ instead of Pakistan Rupees which may boost my life style. All this will happen if I work hard and accept this field seriously. One more thing is that the selection of the training institute is quite important where you see the qualified instructor, get quality reference books, CDs and many other important techniques which will be helpful for anybody training. A person who is living in Pakistan, India, Srilanka, Bangladesh or in the middle east has a great opportunity to enter in this field.
