A Steady and Reliable Income

I have a teaching degree and have spent the last seven years teaching in an elementary school. My husband’s work transferred him to a different state last year. I was pregnant and in the middle of a school year, so I had to stay behind. Teaching certificates are not accepted state to state. To continue to teach I will need to recertify. This will take extensive time and money with no guarantee of a job. I also have to consider another move happening. Chances are looking good. I want to do something that would allow me to work from home and keep me portable. Medical transcriptionists have both the ability to stay home and they are mobile. Certifications are accepted nationwide. I will be able to care for my children and work no matter where my husband is moved to. Compared to teaching salaries, medical transcriptionists have better financial opportunities. I also like that I will be providing a service. I looked at many different work from home typing jobs.  I don’t have the money or desire to gamble on a get rich scheme. I want to know I have accomplished something with my time that will help another, much like the joy of teaching. At the end of the day, you have something to show for your hard work and you have helped another. Future MT promised a job or my money back. With our tight finances, it is a comfort to know I am not out any money for something that may not work. To me that was a promise that I would be ready to execute on the job. Resources are also available to help me find a job and for others who need help to find me. It is also beneficial to earn the certificate without ever leaving my home. I am able to work as my schedule here permits, just as when I have my certificate. Moving states as a teacher you have to rebuild retirement and expertise. (You are viewed as if you have had no experience.) As a medical transcriptionist, my time working is acknowledged no matter where we have to move. In five years I hope to be earning more money than I was teaching and working less than I was teaching. According to my research, this is possible for people who become very proficient in their work. I want my income to be steady and reliable. I want to have a set clientele who trust me and my work. I feel the most important question needing answered is one that wasn’t asked. Why do I want my tuition paid for? As I have previously stated, my husband was recently transferred to a new state and I can not teach unless I recertify. To further complicate our financial worries, we have major medical debt. I had complications from my pregnancy. I have continuing medical problems from the pregnancy. Our baby was born prematurely and spent time in the pediatric intensive care unit. It would be a blessing to receive a message that my tuition was free.
