Assisting In The Medical Profession

I have decided to become a medical transcriptionist because I have amazing typing skills. I was on vacation this weekend and was thinking of things I could do with my typing skills. I thought about doing term papers for college students, but that is too time restrictive. A lot of students need them done within a certain time frame and I need the flexibility of working when I want. I have a son that has just entered High School and I am currently working a full-time job only making $12.50/hr. I work 10-hour days that don’t leave me much time during the day if I need to get something. He is involved in student government, the school play (he also does Community Theater shows), and he’s involved in a dance group that tours every summer. He takes voice lessons and needless to say is VERY involved. I need the flexibility to make sure he gets to where he needs to be at any given time. It won’t be so bad when he can drive, but that’s a year away and I am looking for residual income that will assist me in being able to help him get a car when the time comes. Also, as soon as the time comes, I’m going to have to have something that will keep me busy when he doesn’t need me around anymore. I’m fast approaching that “empty-nest” time in my life and would like to keep my skills honed in order to keep busy. I believe I can make use of my typing skills by being a medical transcriptionist. I type fast and I am extremely accurate. I have worked at the local police department for 30 years and I have been typing for almost 40 years. I think I can be a great asset to any physician requesting my services. I like an office atmosphere, but I like the flexibility of working from home. In July 2006, I received my Real Estate License in the State of Utah. I worked solidly for about 2 years until the market soured. I loved working with people and would like to keep that flexibility along with being a medical transcriptionist when I’m not working on my real estate business. Real Estate is picking up, but I’m not as busy as I’d like to be so I need something to fill my time. I love to work and I’m a great typist. I began researching sites that provided online medical transcriptionist training and I came upon your site. Your site seemed very user friendly and I was able to ascertain all the information I needed to get started. It’s nice to know there is staff available for anyone needing assistance at any time. I’m pretty bright, but it’s nice to know there is help if you need it. From the testimonials I have read, it seems that people are generally happy with what they have learned and the services your company provides. I am excited to get started and look forward to working with your staff. I have been working with Professional Licensing and have fallen in love with the medical field. I have come to know many physicians, nurses, psychologists, etc., and have considered becoming a pharmacy tech. I would eventually like to go back to school full-time, but at this time in my life, it’s not possible because it’s very difficult to have a son as busy as mine, work full-time and go to school too. I would like to become more involved in the medical profession because there are a lot of people that need medical professionals and there is a shortage of them across the country. I am hoping that this career choice inspires me to proceed further with my career as I get older and I am able to complete a degree and assist in the medical profession.
