Determined to be an MT
I have always been interested in the medical field. So much about it fascinates me. However, being a nurse was never in my sights. My main focus has always been to have a family. I have been a stay at home Mom and wife since having our son in 2007. In February 2009, my husband was laid off from his job. Out of work and little prospects, we moved closer to my family in Kentucky with still no luck at him finding a job.
Although he is now starting to get some job prospects, I am determined to gain employment so that we are never in a situation with no income again. However, while I want to work, I really don’t want to put my son in day care. Medical transcription would give me the opportunity to work from home and help my family. I always see job postings for medical transcription, but never thought I would have the ability to gain the information needed to meet the job requirements. Once I saw how hard it was for my husband to find a job in his field, it made me realize that I needed to pursue a career of my own.
One of the main things that drew me to Future MT was its live mentoring aspect of the course. I believe this would help me to succeed and give me the extra boost to ensure that I am understanding the material. I also was impressed by the job assistance that is offered to help graduates of the program find work. Medical transcription would give me more than just the freedom to work from home. Once my son starts school, I would be able to use the knowledge to work at a hospital or doctors office. Of course, all of this would have to start with me completing an MT course and finding work. In five years, I could use the acquired experience to work at a doctors office or hospital once my son is in school and then in 10 years I could start my own medical transcription business. I really feel as though having this knowledge would not only assist me in finding work, but it would save my family from feeling helpless again. The fear of having no income and a young son who needs to be taken care of is horrible. Medical transcription would prove to my son by my example that he can do anything he sets his mind to. Medical transcription would also allow me to spend priceless time with my son that I could never get back all while caring for him financially. Having a career that I can grow will not only help my family, it will give me the confidence I need to know that I can make it. I can gain knowledge, experience and employment all while being able to care for my family without having to leave home (until I am ready of course). Thank you for the time and the opportunity!
