Interest in Becoming an MT
Working at home and working in the medical field is something I have thought long and hard about. I have done quite a few job searches for work at home employment since I became a single parent back in 1998. This endeavor has become daunting, since there are mostly more products to be advertised, and very few guarantees for the outcome. This is risky for a single parent who is trying to maintain a roof over their head and a decent home environment.
Since I wish to work from home, it only makes sense to draw from the experience I have. I have taken classes in data processing in High School so
I am familiar with computer software programs and I enjoy using them and I also use the internet quite often. Taking the classes online would be ideal and I can use my skills with the computer to accomplish my schooling and work. I hope to accomplish the goal of educating my daughter at home full time, and using the freedom of home employment to visit relatives more often who are scattered around the country. It has been difficult and stressful not being able to visit them because of being tied down with work and school. I have always taken a special interest in studying health, and helping to meet other’s needs in this area would be fulfilling. Since it is difficult to put in a fulltime work schedule, become educated and be a decent parent, I believe participating in a medical transcriptionist training program would help me achieve all of these goals.
Besides a unique job opportunity, this is a service that will be needed by people for years to come. Medical information is something I like to keep up to date on, and it means being closer to those who really help make difference in the health of others on a daily basis. Without secure information, there is nothing to fall back on, so the importance and responsibility of the position are challenging. Right now, I am working on a
Business Management Degree, so the potential for becoming an MT also might mean starting my own business, or rising in the area of MT specialist to a management position. The future is full of many possibilities. While continuously expanding my educational opportunities, I need a position that will allow me to earn an income in the meantime. The time of becoming employed with an actual business and gaining important experience is another key factor.
Until I obtain the skills or certifications to obtain a position, it feels as if my education goals are almost dust in the wind. Applying the skills I have, and participating in a vocation that is mutually beneficial for the customers who are helped as well having a freer schedule to work closer to home for family access make working as an MT an ideal career choice for me. Since there are many challenges in life, I am sure it would be a challenging position. This is something I am anticipating and I rely on my faith and prayer to guide me through while remaining hopeful for a busy future.
