Motivations in Career

Years ago I was a transcriptionist for a group in the Seattle area and I loved it. I learned to love science from my work; I found typing up case reports fascinating! The world of MT gave me the understanding of physiology and built up my confidence to return to school with a focus in the health field. There I was able to excel and receive two Master’s in Science Degrees in Clinical Counseling and Behavioral Physiology.

My life situation is such at this point in time with kids at home; I want flexibility in being and spending time with them. I’m not so interested in hands on work with clients any more. I’ve done a lot of that in my past history. Now, a single mom with three kids and my first entering college, I am finding the need to increase my income as well as giving myself time at home with my younger two kids before they head off to college. I am returning to transcription work because I enjoyed it. Typing comes easy for me. I am thinking I can make enough to put away for the next two for their college education, whether it is on-site somewhere or in a program on-line such as what you offer here.

I am interested in training with Future MT because it is one of the medical transcriptionist schools that offers potential placement in the industry upon completion, and you offer financial scholarships which the other programs do not seem to offer, as well as offering thorough training in the field. I am struggling financially just to make ends meet right now and this is greatly appreciated! It is a program my younger two, once they reach the right age, can also involve themselves in to make extra money while they go to college or raises their kids. I want to teach them that working doesn’t always mean going and sitting in a cubicle somewhere, competing for space and attention with a boss. You can work for yourself as a contractor, live comfortably; have flexibility for an enjoyable, fulfilling life, not attached to a desk in someone else’s office. At home, content, comfortable.

Medical Transcription work is a field I can remain in until my fingers stop working, not based on age, and I can make as much money as I can in the flexible time that I need from home. It allows me quality time with my kids which I think is important these days in homes that seem to have grown disconnected. I want my kids to be healthy and to understand the importance of having family there and working together. I can continue to excel in MT for years to come without leaving the comfort of my home unless I want to, or my kids. That’s BIG! It’s a concept I want my kids to understand as well. Working outside of the box – which I think is a growing idea in the country. Conserve gas, reduce vehicle use, spend quality time with family, enjoy life with flexibility, and decrease your carbon footprint. You can work from wherever you want and move about the country while you earn an income. Once my kids leave home, I can go visit them and continue to bring in what I need to live on. I appreciate your time and energy providing scholarships to those who couldn’t do this program without help. Thank you for your consideration!
