My Calling
I would like to become a medical transcriptionist in order to gain added knowledge of the medical field. I currently work as a critical care monitor technician in a local hospital and I am taking classes in order to qualify for Physician Assistant School. I have been inspired to enter the medical profession because of my four year old nephew. Kyle was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect called Truncus Arteriosus in utero. He was not expected to make it to delivery, but he defied all the odds and was born full term. At just five days, he had open heart surgery which included grafting a bovine valve onto his tiny heart. Although Kyle will need additional surgeries as he grows, he is doing amazingly well and is able to live a normal life. Kyle’s diagnosis would have been much different twenty years ago, but hard-working medical researchers and practitioners have made so many significant advances in medicine that he is alive because of these people. As a result, I would like to join the effort to help those who are ill. There are numerous advantages to working in the MT industry. Personally, I would like to learn more about patient diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Another benefit would be the ability to work from home. Since I attend classes during the day and work at night 3 days a week, working in the comfort of my home is ideal. It would also allow more flexibility to my schedule while allowing me to remain financially self-sufficient. I am interested in training with Future MT based on the convenience of taking the course online. I also appreciate the BBB accreditation, the student testimonials, and the resources to help students find employment. It is one thing to offer an education, but students need the resources to find a job. I believe that Future MT offers many valuable resources that prove that they are here not only to educate, but to assist students as much as possible. In addition, I think it is impressive that there are scholarships offered each month. There are so many people who would be great at transcription jobs from home , but they are unable to afford the initial cost of education. In training and working as a MT, I hope to gain experience and understanding of many aspects of the medical profession. It will also be a financial help for me as I pursue my ultimate dream of becoming a practicing Physician Assistant. Although it can be difficult to work full-time and take classes, it is a necessity for me; therefore, I believe that it is preparing me for a challenging, yet rewarding, profession in medicine. I know that I will be good at medical transcription because I work in a hospital, I have already taken many biology courses including anatomy and physiology, and I have the drive to succeed. My only obstacle thus far has been financial. I work hard, but it is difficult to find the extra financial support to finance additional courses. If I am chosen to receive a full scholarship to Future MT, I can assure you that it will go to great use and be extremely appreciated.
