My Goal of Becoming an MT
My name is Saron Melissa Coderre. I’d like to tell you about myself and my situation so you will have better insight as to why I am in need of the full tuition scholarship you are offering at Future MT. First, I am a young Mother of (soon to be) two children. I have struggled to pursue my dream of becoming an MT due to financial issues, and to be honest, it’s an ongoing struggle of mine just to meet the current needs of myself and my children. Sometimes when a young woman has a child early in her life, she is labeled with some often inaccurate terms and scrutinized by potential employers, as well as family members, for choosing the path she is on in her life. But I didn’t choose the path of struggling and being worried of how I will provide for my kids, or myself. Despite hard times, I still do not choose the path of giving up and giving in to what is assumed of me by so many others who have been more fortunate with their circumstances. I’m not seeking pity, or attempting to be a marter. I am seeking understanding and assistance from people who could easily be in my place, or worse. I choose to live above my current circumstances and to never stop pursuing a career… But I am not only a mother or a young woman. I am wife, I am a daughter, I am an individual, I am someone who will rise above poverty and not let it hold me back. I do need help in achieving my goal of becoming an MT. When I see the medical transcription courses and go over their financial payment plans, I ache to be in a position where I am eligible to make that choice of pressing proceed with the mouse and by doing so moving on to a better and brighter future through my education. I’ve looked into MT courses for nearly two years now. I haven’t had the chance to pursue my dream, YET. And like I said before, I’m still not giving up or giving in. I’m not submitting to my current circumstances and the other thing I am doing…is having faith in others to reach out when they are able and show me the mercy of providing for me to be able to enter this course. What a blessing it will be when my day comes around to further my education and have the job I not only enjoy, but was blessed with by others being giving and caring for me when they could have simply ignored, forgotten, or lost focus on another person who desperately needed their help. I promise that I am hard working, I am determined, and I am driven to achieve my goals. Even if I do not win the scholarship I am hoping and praying that by submitting this essay, I know I will find a way to bring about making my wanted career possible. I have a passion for the medical field, especially in terminology and transcribing. If Future MT took a chance with me and aided me in taking their course, they would not be disappointed. In fact, I’m sure I would make them proud. One last note, thank you for reading my essay and considering me for a scholarship. Or even just for trying to understand my dreams and goals, and who I am.
