My interest in the medical field
Hello, my name is Lisa Flowers and I am interested in learning how to be a medical transcriptionist. I want to become a medical transcriber because I want to learn this field and have a stable career to be able to provide for my family. Something that happened lately in my life that made me really consider a career in this field was one of my family members passed and when we got the autopsy report I couldn’t understand what most of what it said.
I would love to learn and understand all the vocabulary, about clinical medicine, common diseases and also the steps of lab and surgical procedures. The medical field interests me immensely and I want to act on it and get started on establishing a career in this field.
The advantages for me of working as a medical transcriptionist and in the health-care business are to have a flexible schedule and be able to learn and work from home so I am able to care for my children. Although I wouldn’t have a problem going to job sites to do certain tasks if needed. I am a 29 year old single mother of two young sons ages 4 years old and 10 months, and I am also unemployed at the time and unable to pay for these courses and/or childcare. I also live with my elderly grandmother and am responsible for taking her to doctor’s appointments and on errands, since she is unable to drive herself. I believe that medical transcribing would be a great career for me and I know I would shine in this field.
I am interested in training with Future MT because it offers training at home which is a great advantage for me. I also like that this course is a self paced course. I also love that there is a live mentor there for me if I need them. I chose Future MT for those reasons and also because there is financial aid available and scholarships as well. I am currently on the Cal-Works program through the State of California, and unemployed so I am unable to pay for courses out of my pocket. I feel I would be a great candidate for a scholarship and financial aid. I would be extremely grateful if I was chosen for this scholarship and any other opportunity that may come my way.
Some goals I have for myself is to be educated in the MT field and have established a stable foundation for a career. In the next few years I see myself working for a MT company and supporting my children and helping my grandmother to pay for our house. In say 5 or 10 years I see myself potentially running a MT program. I am tired of not being able to provide for my children and I am 100% committed to becoming trained and employed in the medical transcription field. It’s just a matter of getting the education and experience needed to achieve these goals.
