My New Career
I want to become a MT for several reasons. The first reason is the flexibility in hours and the fact that I would get to stay home with my kids. I feel it is very important to try to be a part of their lives as much as possible. Secondly, I am looking for a dependable career and I believe the medical field is just that. I know as a Medical Transcriptionist I would be in control of the salary rather than depending on a boss to give me a salary increase. I also feel as though the job would be important work. Transcribing dictation that goes into someone’s permanent file is a very important job. I am very detailed oriented and a go getter that would work well by pushing myself instead of needing constant supervision. I was recently laid off of work and haven’t been able to find work for almost a year now. In today’s economy that is a scary thing. I have been researching jobs that I believe will be around for a long time. Jobs that will be dependable and stable no matter what condition the economy is in. I feel a career as a MT will be just that.
As a MT I hope to provide supplement income to my family, as well as establishing a long term career. I think if I succeed at becoming a MT I would be able to share my story and get others involved in the MT world. From all that I have read it seems as though there is a MT shortage and I am hoping to help fill that shortage. I feel as though being a MT is a job that would make me feel accomplished at the end of the day. So often people find themselves at a job that they feel is going nowhere. I firmly believe unless you are happy at your job you won’t be successful. I feel with my knowledge and dedication to work that I could become a successful MT. I hope to find a doctor or group of doctors I can work for, for a long time. I want the doctors to be pleased with my work and refer me to others. I want to make this my career.
