My Personal Economic Stimulus Package
The past eight years at home with my two children have been more than rewarding. Unfortunately, the rewards of the position of being a stay-at-home-mom don’t come with a pay check! The past year has been the most difficult financial year of my almost ten year marriage, and the time has come for me to find a way to supplement our household income and help take some of the stress off my husband’s back. For the past several months, we have watched my husband’s paycheck he earns as a finance manager in the car business decrease dramatically. If I were to receive this full scholarship, it would provide me with an efficient way to study the field of medical transcription at no cost to me. What an amazing blessing that would be! I am currently trying to find a way to pay for the program, but I am also hoping and praying that I might be chosen for one of the monthly scholarships. I was introduced to the field of medical transcription by my sister-in-law who has been enjoying the benefits of working at home for the past six years now. After being at home with my children since 2001, I cannot imagine not being here when my kids get out of school or having to stress about staying home to take care of a sick child. Being able to work from the comfort of my home when my schedule allows seems ideal for a mom of two school-aged children! This is a field I have thought about for the past year, and I think it would be a great fit for me, as well as my family. I have searched the Internet for information and training programs for home typist jobs, and I was really impressed with the Future MT program. It seems compact – not too many books and classes – as well as reasonably priced, which was a big factor for me. I like the idea of being able to train with a book in hand as well as being able to listen to and practice with real doctors’ dictations. The availability of a mentor through the program who would be available to answer questions as they arise is a big bonus as well. Similar programs I have found cost upwards of $2000 – $3000, and those are simply not an option for me right now. I would love to within the next year complete a training program and place myself in the position to work while both my kids are in school. I even have dreams of perhaps working with an online company one day proofing transcripts. When in college, I dreamed of being an editor. Although my life certainly didn’t turn toward a big career in book or magazine publishing, perhaps a portion of my dream could come true with the training this program offers along with future years of experience within the field of medical transcription. I am more than ready to dust off my brain a little and get to work on my future!
