My Reasons For Becoming A Medical Transcriptionist

My primary reason for wanting to become a medical transcriptionist is to have the ability to earn income while taking care of my youngest son. He is four years old and has only one year left until he begins kindergarten. I want to have the time to spend playing together and preparing him for school next year. I also have a seven year old son who is already in elementary school. I want to be able to be at home when he gets off the bus each day. I enjoy helping him with his homework, hearing about his day and spending time outside together. I believe it is extremely important for the parents to play an active, involved role in children’s’ lives, especially at a young age. I know it promotes self-confidence and helps them to succeed, not only throughout their school years, but later in life as well. I’m motivated by this idea particularly because for the past year and a half I’ve been working long hours outside the home. My job was such that even when I was home, I had to spend hours on the phone or on the computer–resolving issues, answering questions and, in short, running my business even when I wasn’t at the store. This has really taken a toll on my boys. They became very needy and less well-behaved because they didn’t have enough of my attention. Since I’ve begun staying at home with them, I already a see a vast improvement in their behavior and our home is running much more smoothly. My secondary reason for wanting to become a medical transcriptionist stems from the first. Now that I’m no longer running my business, I still have the same bills at home but without the same level of income. While my family is certainly my top priority, I still have financial responsibilities to which I must attend. To that end, I am really excited to have found something that will incorporate my attention to detail and love of organization with a home-based business that is solely dependent on my strong work ethic, my ability to self-start and my level of maturity and responsibility. The advantages of an online typing job for me are the flexibility and the ability to work as much as I’d like. Since it’s something I can do from home, I can work during the day while my son plays or naps and even at night once the boys are in bed. When I have more free time, I will be able to work longer and have more earning potential. Since I’m used to being the boss, I’ll have the advantage of being in control of my schedule without the disadvantage of employees who may not share my work ethic or my skill level. My goal is to continue education so that I become the best MT I can be and, as I learn more about the industry, to become more and more successful. Then when both boys are in school next year, I will be able to work more hours and still be available to them when they get home from school each day. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity.
