Seeking a Career Transition into the MT Field
I have come across this field in my search for something where I can use my science background, my detail-oriented personality, can work from home, and can still make a good salary. I am currently a high school science teacher but am getting burned out as I have been teaching for 21 years but do not really want to go to working in a regular 9-5 job. I like the freedom of having time to still be involved with my children’s activities and having time to travel to visit family.
I would like working with the computer and am quite familiar with different applications. I have knowledge in regards to biology and have some coursework in aging also. I have also worked as a special educator for many years and am used to focusing on details. I feel that experience would benefit me in working with a variety of people and coping with their writing and speaking styles. I am looking for something with the freedom to still attend my children’s activities as well as having time for my own interests. I also like the idea that I can work from anywhere. My husband is a truck driver and there are times when I could go with him for a few days or visit my relatives for a few days and still complete my work. I came across your website in a Google search.
I am looking for an online course where I can work at my own pace with job search and placement, and the tuition for the training is reasonable. I have taken some online courses in the past and your training is comparable to a graduate level class cost. I also am looking for the opportunity to make similar a similar salary as to what I am making as a teacher.
My goals in regards to medical transcription are to complete my training and get connected with a medical facility to complete transcriptions or possibly work for several physicians on a freelance basis. I would consider both working for a hospital or clinic situation and possibly taking on clients of my own and starting a transcription business. Working for a medical business would provide me with a regular income but my own business might better meet my needs for a flexible work schedule. I would anticipate this being a skill I could use well into the future even past the point of usual retirement. I believe that this is a good investment in my future and would provide me with the opportunity to meet my family’s needs in relation to my scheduling and with meeting the income needs for my family. As stated earlier, this would be a career which would allow me the freedom to adjust my daily schedule and yet would utilize my background. Many careers that I have looked at do not appear to me as though my previous knowledge and experience would be very useful. I believe that working within the medical field would use my experience working with people as well as my science knowledge.
