Why I am seeking to become an MT
Since I was a young girl I have had an interest in the medical field. After graduating from high school, I decided to take CNA classes and worked at a nursing home in the small town I grew up in. At the time, I was thinking of furthering my education by going to school to become a registered nurse. Before that could happen I married the boy I dated in high school and shortly after became pregnant with my daughter. I then decided to put schooling on hold and be a mother. At the time, my husband made good money so this enabled me to become a full-time, stay-at-home mom.
I went on to have 4 more beautiful baby boys. I have dedicated my time since to being a mom. Now that my children are all almost grown besides my little four-year-old, I have found that my interest in the medical field is still just as strong as it was when I was still back in high school. My biggest motivation for wanting to become a medical transcriptionist is that I love anything that has to do with the human body. I enjoy reading as much information as I can to know why the human body works the way it does and I am very interested in pathology of the body.
The advantages for me as far as working in the MT industry are very numerous. It will give me more time at home to spend with my four-year-old. I will have the comfort of being able to stay at home and save money that I would be spending on gas to get back and forth to a job, not mention the wear and tear on my vehicle. I will not have to put out money to hire child care, which can be extremely costly. I will have a more flexible schedule so that I will be able to attend school functions or conferences that I need to attend at my childrens’ school. I have a son with Velo-Cardio Facial Syndrome and he has learning disabilities so I do want to be able to attend any conferences that the school may schedule. I will be able to do this with no worries of having to be at a job that requires me to be there at the same time that the conferences are going on.
My main reason for looking into training at medical transcription schools is a pretty simple one really. Future MT is the only place that I have checked into that cares for the medical transcription field enough that they are willing to put some of the money they make into the dreams of other potential MTs. I have not seen another place that offers to give the money they make to others to make their dreams come true. The textbook and CD-Rom offered look very informative to me and that is what I am looking for. Not only do I want to become a future medical transcriptionist, but I also want to feel that I am truly learning from the course offered to me. I feel that with the MT course being offered, I will learn truly what being a medical transcriptionist is all about. I like the fact that I can complete this course in a timely manner and be on my way to having a career that I will be truly happy with.
I have a very avid desire to be not only an MT, but to be the best MT that I am capable of being, and I believe the Future MT course will get me on that path. My educational and career goals are to first do my schooling to become a medical transcriptionist and give it my best effort. I want to complete the course with honors and know that I was the one who did it on my own with the help and guidance of Future MT. While my son is starting Kindergarten and moving on through his school years, I would like to be an MT working for a great company. I would like to eventually, within the next 8-10 years, start my own medical transcription business and be truly independent. The desire I have to become a medical transcriptionist is truly indescribable. It would turn my whole life around. I have been a stay-at home mom and wife and I would really love to have the security and indepenence of taking care of myself. Everything in me wants nothing more than being given the chance to make this come true.
