Why I Want to Become a Medical Transcriptionist
In the past year, many changes have occurred which have caused me to change my career choices. My husband and I both left full-time employment in Arizona to move to Missouri to go to missionary school. This was a lifestyle change like none we had faced before, but we did rise to the occasion with success. We have recently graduated from the missionary training center in Missouri and have returned to our home in Arizona. Being gone for a year, we were shocked at the changes in employment opportunities, or should I say lack of employment opportunities, that have greeted us upon our return home. Now we are looking at financing our family expenses while funding our ministry, neither of which is cheap these days, and trying to be as creative as we can. Having left our former permanent employment to go through the training course in Missouri has caused me to look at different types of employment that would be more flexible, not just for my immediate employment needs, but also for the future. The medical field seems to be one area that is still seeking to hire capable employees and I don’t see that slowing down any time soon. At least in my job searches, the medical field seems to outweigh all others out there. I would love to be one of those capable employees that could work from home so that I can still apply myself to the missionary training that I was trained for so well during my time in Missouri. Therefore, this sounds like the perfect fit for me. I don’t like the aspect of entering any type of work without some sort of training to prepare for the job, so having training through Future MT would enable me to feel prepared to go forward in my job search with confidence, knowing that I could do the job well. I also appreciate the fact that you will assist me with searching for medical transcription jobs after my course completion. I am aware of how competitive the job market is these days and any assistance with job placement is greatly appreciated. As far as future goals are concerned, I can see this training giving me the ability to help out with our family finances for many years to come. Being able to earn money wherever we are in the world is a large part of why I would want to be able to have this type of career. To have the ability to supplement our income no matter where we live would create peace of mind that we have not experienced for a while now, financially. As we will be international missionaries in the future and medical transcriptionists can work from anywhere in the world, this opens up a whole new career opportunity for me. There aren’t many career opportunities that have the kind of flexibility that medical transcriptionists have, so this sounds like just the kind of career that I am looking for and would love to be able to train for properly. In this way, I can do the job well and be able to do it well into the future. I would hope that being a part of the medical team would ensure decent medical benefits. I look forward to re-entering the workforce as an employee with benefits, health/retirement, etc. as this is something that I have missed as someone that has been out of the working world. Stable employment with flexibility and benefits, and the thought of not worrying about those things ever again, is the reason I would most want to become a medical transcriptionist.
